Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a circa 1950s squadron patch made for the United States Air Force's 511th Fighter Bomber Squadron 408th Fighter Bomber Wing out of Langley Air Force Base in Virginia. From 1953-1956 the squadron flew F-89s and from 1956-1958 they flew F-100s. The patch shows a dive-bombing vulture complete with head bandage dropping some bombs. The patch reads 511th FTR. BMB. SQ.

VINTAGE:

Circa 1950s.

SIZE:

3-15/16" diameter.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Cotton patch embroidered with red, yellow, black and white cotton threads.

7+ (Very Fine+): Patch has a very small, hard-to-see spot of but has great colors.
