ARTIFACT: This is a 1950s Northwest Airlines U.S. Air Mail five years of service pin by Balfour. Northwest had begun in 1926 as Northwest Airways but changed its name in 1933 to be allowed to carry air mail. The pin has a red, white and blue bull's-eye design at center bearing a smaller wing with a ruby chip at center.

VINTAGE: Circa 1950s.

SIZE: Approximately 1/2" in diameter.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Gold-plated brass with enamel, ruby chip.

ATTACHMENT: Vertical pin with drop-in locking swivel catch.

MARKINGS: LGB (Balfour) X.

ITEM NOTES: This is from an airlines collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VBEX10/94 LGEX7/11

CONDITION: 7+ (Very Fine+): The pin shows some small spots of light wear and some abrasion on reverse.
