This is a circa 1950s French Navy badge for the frigate (frégate) Amiral Mouchez. The ship was named for the French hydrographer, astronomer and cons-Admiral Amédée Ernest Barthélémy Mouchez. The badge is by A. Augis of Lyon, and is enameled in a waterside scene using pleasing hues of blue and red. .
VINTAGE:Circa 1950s.
SIZE:Approximately 1-7/16" square.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Enameled brass.
ATTACHMENT:Horizontal safety-style pin with saddle.
MARKINGS:A. AUGIS LYON 28 ST. BARTHELEMY.
