Description
This is a 1950s French pilot grouping including a mini-ribbon bar of the Battle of France with 7 ribbons, an aviation cadet training wing and a pilot hat badge as well as a certificate of citations for four kills. This grouping belonged to Ernest Richardson, who later became an instructor in the 1950s.
VINTAGE:Circa 1950s.
SIZE:Ribbon bar: about 3-5/8" in width by 2-1/4" in height; cadet wing: about 2-3/8" in width by 15/16" in height; pilot badge: about 2-3/16" in width by 1-3/4" in height; certificate of citations: about 8-1/4" in width by 11-5/8" in height.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Ribbon bar: gilt bronze, brass and silvered nickel with enamel accents and silk ribbon; cadet wing: gilt brass with enamel accents; pilot badge: gilt silver; certificate of citations: printed paper.
ATTACHMENT:Ribbon bar: horizontal pin with a "C" catch; cadet wing: horizontal one piece safety type pin with a "C" catch and a saddle attachment to wing back; pilot badge: horizontal bar through double loops with screw-ball at one end.
MARKINGS:Ribbon bar: maker's mark followed by BRONZE; pilot badge: INSIGNES Ð OFFICIELS Ð DRAGO 3.R.DE ROMAINVILLE - PARIS.
