Description
This is a circa 1950s or early 1960s hand-painted resin plaque for the United States Navy's USS Piper (SS-409). The Piper was launched June 26,1944 at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard (Kittery, Maine) and went on three World War II patrols. Piper was deployed for the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis and was decommissioned June 16, 196The plaque shows a submarine turned piper fish plunging out of the water carrying a missile.
VINTAGE:Circa 1950s - early 1960s.
SIZE:Approximately 7-1/2" in height and 6-1/8" in width and ¾" in thickness.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Painted resin.
