ARTIFACT:
This is a 1945 dated United States Army Air Forces Type K-1 flight suit in khaki cotton twill. The suit was worn in the China-Burma-India theatre by Bob Johnson of the 330th Troop Carrier Squadron. The suit has a really neat clip on it that clamps down like a clothespin.
VINTAGE:
Circa 1945.
SIZE:
Size Small Regular (34 to 36).
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Khaki cotton twill, metal zippers and eyelets at armpits, resin buttons, leather clips and zipper pulls.
ATTACHMENT:
Zipper (also on pockets and pant cuffs), buttons at waist.
MARKINGS:
SUIT, FLYING, VERY LIGHT, COTTON TWILL TYPE K-1 SPECIFICATION NO. 3232 SMALL REGULAR (34 TO 36) AAF STOCK NO. 8300-810030 ORDER NO. (33-038) 4S-6119 THE H.D. LEE COMPANY INC on label and B written next to it; TALON on zipper.

CONDITION:
7- (Very Fine-): The suit shows several small spots of discoloration and rust with some light fraying at the pant cuffs and one eyelet missing underneath an armpit. Otherwise the suit has no rips or problems with the zippers.
