This is a souvenir ribbon for the launching of the USS Balao (SS-285) from the Portsmouth Naval Ship Yard on October 27, 194The Balao went on ten war patrols, sank at least seven Japanese ships and received nine battle stars for her World War II service.
VINTAGE:Circa 1943.
SIZE:Approximately 5-1/8 in height and 2-1/4" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Printed orange silk.
ITEM NOTES:This is from a United States Navy collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. LFJX3/11 SFJX09/21
CONDITION:9- (Excellent+): The ribbon has minor storage wear.
