This is a circa 1941-1942 lapel pin in the shape of a P-38 Lightning fighter aircraft. Lockheed introduced the P-38 in 1941, and it prevailed as the only fighter produced in the States from the end of 1941 through the end of the war. The pin is gold-filled and has an enameled USAAF insiginia on each wing.
VINTAGE:Circa 1941-1942.
SIZE:Approximately 5/8" height and 7/8" width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Gold-filled brass, enamel.
ATTACHMENT:Horizontal pin on bar with drop-in locking swivel catch.
MARKINGS:None.
