Description
This is a circa 1940s enameled lapel badge for the Westminster Kennel Club (WKC). The club got its start in New York City in 1877, and was named for a hotel where gentleman of the sporting persuasion would gather to drink and compare shooting scores. Soon the First Annual New York Bench Show of Dogs was held, and the show eventually became the second longest continuously running sporting event in the nation. The badge is by the Kenney Company of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
VINTAGE:Circa 1940s.
SIZE:Approximately 13/16" in diameter.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Gilt brass, enameled areas.
ATTACHMENT:Single screw post with disc backing, non-moveable pin bar.
