ARTIFACT: This is a circa 1940s or 1950s Adelphia, New Jersey Howell Township Fire Company No. 1 member badge. C.H.T. Clayton created Company No. 1 and served as its President until his death. After losing some property in a 1926 fire, his concern for the well-being of families in his community prompted the organization of Company No. 1 a few months later. The small community had formerly relied upon the fire company of neighboring Freehold, and the travel distance did not help the odds of beating their fires. The badge is. We have a badge owned by Clayton available for sale separately (please see link at bottom of page for information).

VINTAGE: Circa 1940s-1950s.

SIZE: Approximately 2-1/16" in height and 1-3/16" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Chrome-plated brass, painted lettering.

ATTACHMENT: Vertical kick pin with drop-in locking swivel catch.

MARKINGS: None.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a New Jersey fire and rescue badge collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. MDX12 LGEX1/14 SDJX2/15

CONDITION: 8- (Very Fine-Excellent): The badge has only some light wear.

GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
