ARTIFACT: This is a 1938 Zippo with factory-engraved initials, GWC. Sometime in the 1960s the lighter was obviously sent back to the factory for hinge repair. At that time, a NICKEL 5-barrel hinge was put in the lighter and the original guts were replaced with a new insert. The factory worker also placed their initials on the inside of the cover. The insert is unmarked without a donut hole striker rivet, and was never fired.

VINTAGE: Circa 1938.

SIZE: Approximately 2-1/4" high, 1-1/2" wide, and 1/2" deep.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Chrome-plated brass with blue paint. Factory engraved.

MARKINGS: "Block" logo and the patent # 2032695 on lighter's bottom; unmarked insert.

ITEM NOTES: These lighters that I am currently listing are part of a large collection that I have accumulated over the last 15 years. I will be selling more of this collection over the next few months. RAT93 LAFEX1/11 SAFEX12/12

CONDITION: 6+ (Fine-Very Fine): Light to moderate pocket wear. Paint 70% present.

GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
