ARTIFACT: This is a 1931 copy of the "Rules for the Government of the Operating Department" for Boston and Maine Railroad, a dominant New England railroad company dating from 1835. The pocket-sized book has some examples of blank forms, all regulations pertaining to train operations and several color illustrations showing different railroad signal positions. The title of the book is embossed on the cover but it is barely readable.

VINTAGE: Published 1931.

SIZE: 283 pages plus a two page index; approximately 6-3/8" in height and 4" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Cloth-bound cover, paper.

ATTACHMENT: Glued binding.

MARKINGS: No. 4867; Carroll J. Rawling Frt. Frmn(?) written inside front cover; Rand Avery Supply Co. Boston 18995 (last page).

ITEM NOTES: This is from a New England railroad manual collection that we will be listing more of over the next few months. ebay VEX05 LEEX1/14 SLDEX6/16

CONDITION: 6 (Fine+): The book has moderate wear and soiling to the cover; a few spots of light handwriting/creasing of corners inside; some separation inside cover at spine but book is still intact.
