ARTIFACT: This is a circa 1930s or early World War II United States Air Service altimeter Type C-13 by Kollsman. The dial face has luminous markings and also displays the altimeter's serial number: 29222. There is a Kollsman mark and a specifications plaque on reverse. The knob at lower left controls the long hand. An altimeter measures altitude above a fixed level.

VINTAGE: Circa 1930s-early WWII.

SIZE: Approximately 4-5/8" in length and 3-1/4" square on face.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Painted brass, aluminum, glass.

ATTACHMENT: Knob, holes for screws.

MARKINGS: A. C. U. S. Army, Type C-13, Ser. No. 29222 on face; KOLLSMAN and specifications plaque on reverse.

CONDITION: 7+ (Very Fine+): The altimeter does have some small spots of cosmetic wear.
