Description
This is an Italian Post and Telegraph Militia (Milizia Postelegrafonica) enlisted man shoulder board from the 1930's into World War II. Formed in 1925, this group had anti-fraud duties during peacetime, as well as its wartime functions such as monitoring censorship and running the Field Postal Service. The board shows a bundled fasces intertwined with a pair of postal horns.
VINTAGE:Circa 1930s - World War II.
SIZE:Approximately 2-9/16" in length and 1-15/16" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Pieced wool embroidered in cotton/silk threads; gold-plated brass.
ATTACHMENT:Button hole; two screw posts with washers.
