Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a scarce Chinese Naval Officer's dagger with enameled cloisonne details. The grip is fashioned from faux tortoiseshell and has Chinese sun and crossed Naval Ensign and National flags in enamel on the end cap. The blade is narrowly fullered on both sides. The end of the copper scabbard is capped in gilt brass with similar enameled details.

VINTAGE:

Circa 1930s – early WWII.

SIZE:

Approximately 14-1/2" in length and 2-3/16" in width; blade only: 9-3/4" in length and 7/8" in width; scabbard only: 11-1/8" in length and 1-3/16" in width; 15-3/4" length (while in scabbard).

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Steel, brass, faux tortoiseshell grip, enamel, copper-plated brass scabbard.

CONDITION:

6 (Fine+): The dagger has some abrasion and tarnish with some small areas of oxidation to the grip and scabbard; some slight denting to the scabbard.
