Description
This is a circa early 1930s member wing for the Women's International Association of Aeronautics (WIAA). Founded by Elizabeth Lippincott McQueen, one of Los Angeles' first female pilots, the WIAA was not only an aviation association but also an advocate group for the rights of aviatrixes. This wing is in enameled sterling silver and is numbered 17.
VINTAGE:Circa early 1930s.
SIZE:Approximately 1" in height and 2" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Sterling silver, enameled details.
ATTACHMENT:Horizontal pin with Tiffany catch.
MARKINGS:STERLING ALLEN 17.
