Description

ARTIFACT:

1930's early 1940's Nazi Schutzstaffel (SS) "Traditions" type death's head hat badge or Totenkopf as it is known in German. The use of the skull was introduced to the uniform in May of 192Himmler once quoted: "The Skull is the reminder that you shall always be willing to put yourself at stake for the life of the whole community". This example is stamped construction showing the skull without a mandible and the traditional crossed bones.

Circa 1930's early 1940's

SIZE:

Approximately 1-1/4" x 1".

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Plated white metal.

7- (Very Fine-): The Skull shows a small impression to the top (viewer's left), only one prong, and some of the original plating remains intact
