ARTIFACT: This is a circa 1870s San Francisco, California Detective Bureau shield badge found during excavation work. The badge reads S.F. DETECTIVE BUREAU 30.

VINTAGE: Circa 1870s.

SIZE: 2-1/2" height and 1-3/4" width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Nickel-plated brass with painted lettering.

ATTACHMENT: Vertical T-style pin with "C" catch is missing.

MARKINGS: N/A.

CONDITION: 5- (Very Good+): Badge shows moderate wear, is missing its attachment and has suffered from being buried.
