Description
This is a circa 1870s-1880s police belt, buckle and nightstick holder. The belt buckle is interlocking, with one half shaped like a circle reading POLICE that fits into another wreath-shaped half. A nightstick holder is looped over the belt, which has a faded design reminiscent of repeating ichthus (fish) symbols.
VINTAGE:Circa 1870s-1880s.
SIZE:Approximately 37-3/4" length (including buckle) and 2" width; holder is 2-3/16" wide by 5-1/2" high.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Leather, gold-plated brass.
ATTACHMENT:Interlocking belt buckle; brass buckle with one prong; holder fastened in loop by rivets.

CONDITION:5+ (Fine-): Belt has seen heavy wear and is somewhat brittle but all buckles and loops are intact.
