This is a United States Militia officer belt and buckle from the 1850s. The belt has a stitched and scalloped border on each edge and is a brilliant orange-red and white. The buckle shows an insignia in relief of an eagle clutching arrows and a laurel branch.
VINTAGE:Circa 1850s.
SIZE:Approximately 1-15/16" width (at buckle) and 37-1/2" length.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Painted/stained leather with brass.
ATTACHMENT:Belt buckle with rectangular loop and clip.

CONDITION:6- (Fine): Belt is somewhat brittle and shows heavy crackling but can still be folded. One loop is almost severed.
