ARTIFACT: This is a circa 1800-1815 United States Navy officer sword in fire gilt bronze. The guard shows an amazing eagle and anchor, and the wreathed "W"s are in memory of George Washington. The upper third of the blade is engraved with various designs on both sides, and one end of the guard is a vigilant eagle's head.

VINTAGE: Circa 1800-1815.

SIZE: Overall: approximately 37" in length and 4-3/4" in width; blade only: 32-1/4" by 3/4" (at widest part).

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Fire gilt bronze; brass pieces, gold on the blade: fire gilt; blade: blued and fire gilt; handle: baleen (?); felt.

ATTACHMENT: None.

MARKINGS: None.

CONDITION: 7+ (Very Fine+): The sword has some light rust at top, still in relatively good polish towards the point.
