ARTIFACT: This is a World War II recruitment booklet for the United States Navy Waves. The WAVES, or the Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service, were the first women to serve in the army as a division of the US Navy. The booklet contains several black and white photographs of women at work in the Navy and of course information on recruitment centers in each state of the union. The cover art was painted by John Falter, USNR, and we have a poster of this same painting available for sale separately (please see link at bottom of page for more information).

VINTAGE: Circa World War II.

SIZE: 49 pages including black and white photographs; approximately 9" in height and 6" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Glossy card stock cover, paper.

ATTACHMENT: Stapled binding.

MARKINGS: U.S. NAVY RECRUITING STATION POST OFFICE BUILDING BELLOWS FALLS, VT. stamped on cover and inside; John Falter USNR NAVPERS (#) 6 Oct 1941 bottom corner of cover.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a United States Navy collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. RBL94 LDEX6/13 SDEX7/13

CONDITION: 8- (Very Fine-Excellent): The booklet has some light wear only with some minor creasing and one very small tear to the cover.
