Description

ARTIFACT:

WWII United States Coast Guard Port of New York photo identification issued to a United States Customs Clerk. The card shows a black and white photograph and reads: "IDENTIFICATION ONLY – NOT A PASS ISSUED BY CAPTAIN OF PORT NEW YORK IS", "MANUEL CABRAL JR.", "CLERK BUREAU OF CUSTOMS TREASURY DEPT CUSTOM HOUSE N.Y.", (signature) Stanley (?) REAR ADMIRAL", "VALIDATED – UNITED STATES COAST GUARD", "AMERICAN BANK NOTE COMPANY". The reverse features Cabral's fingerprint and shows the date of issue: "6-28-44". This identification card came along with the US Customs uniform buttons and a beautiful US Customs Hat Badge, see links below.
