ARTIFACT: This is a nice patch for the United States Army Air Forces 54th Troop Carrier Squadron, 64th Transport Group, 315th Transport (later Troop Carrier). On July 4, 1942 the 54th Troop Carrier squadron was reconstituted from the 54th Transport Squadron. Assigned to both the 64th Transport Group and 315th Transport (later Troop Carrier) in June 1942, the 54th was attached to both the 4th and 11th Air Forces. The patch shows a dragonesque creature-turned-plane carrying people on its back.

VINTAGE: Circa World War II.

SIZE: About 5-1/2" in diameter.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Fully ebroidered with cotton thread.

ATTACHMENT: To be sewn onto garment.

MARKINGS: None.
