ARTIFACT:

This is a large jacket patch for the United States Army Air Forces 317th Fighter Squadron, 325th Fighter Group of the 15th Air Force. This squadron flew P-40s, P-47s, and P-51s. The patch shows a hornet or wasp covered in checkerboard.

VINTAGE:

Circa World War II.

SIZE:

About 5" high and 5 ½" wide.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Embroidery thread on cotton.

ATTACHMENT:

To be sewn onto garment.
