Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a great submarine desk model, probably from New London, Connecticut. The model is quite detailed, showing a deck gun, flags and port holes, and is flat on reverse. There is a slight possibility that this model may have been made with scrap from the USS Sailfish (ex-Squalus) because of a scratched message on the bottom reading SQUALUS 1951.

Circa World War II.

Approximately 2-1/2" height and 9-1/4" width and 2-1/2" depth (base).

SQUALUS 1951 scratched on bottom.
