ARTIFACT: This is a World War II United States 91st Bomb Group, 8th Air Force jacket patch silk-screened on leather with a period photo of its original owner, Lt. Mahlon Long. In the photo, Lt. Long is in front of a B-17 aircraft, dressed and ready for a combat mission. Lt. Long was bombardier of eventual Lt. General Joseph G. Long's crew. The patch shows a determined bird-turned-missile with a rather totem-like design on his wings. The 91st was also known as the "Ragged Irregulars".

VINTAGE: Circa World War II.

SIZE: Approximately 5" in diameter.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Silk-screened leather, photograph.

ATTACHMENT: N/A.

MARKINGS: LT. MAHLON LONG - BOMBADIER (sic) JON G. WILSON CREW written on back of photo.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a United States Army Air Forces collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. MBEJX10 LHGEX3/11 TRHGEX9/11

CONDITION: 7- (Very Fine-): The patch shows some small areas of moderate wear and discoloration and the photo shows light wear and fading.
