Description
This is a "trench art" souvenir bracelet made by an American soldier from Japanese aircraft parts. The front of the bracelet has a nomenclature plate attached that features fragmentary numbers and Japanese kanji. It, along with the body of the bracelet (aircraft 'skin') are most likely from a Japanese Mitsubishi Zero. The first line of the nomenclature plate read"ben kan sukima chyosei" - 'VALVE CLEARANCE ADJUSTMENT'. The second line read'INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE'.
VINTAGE:Circa World War II.
SIZE:1-1/4" in height or 3" in width and 2-1/2" depth.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Aluminum, likely aircraft 'skin'.
ATTACHMENT:Bracelet opening.
