WWII Submarine Launch Tag for the USS Tirante SS-420

ARTIFACT:

This is a World War II submarine launch tag for the USS Tirante SS-420, launched on August 9, 1944 at Portsmouth (NH) Naval Shipyard. The Tirante earned two battle stars and a Presidential Unit Citation for her World War II service.

VINTAGE:

Circa 1944.

SIZE:

About 1-3/4 in width by 2-1/8" in height.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Foiled card stock.

ATTACHMENT:

Silk string.
