This is a World War II submarine launch tag for the USS Pomodon SS-486, launched on June 12, 1945 at Portsmouth (NH) Naval Shipyard. After serving in Korea, Pomodon suffered an explosion caused from an excess of hydrogen gas in which five crew members died. Pomodon was scrapped in 1972, after over a quarter century of service.
VINTAGE:Circa 1945.
SIZE:About 1-3/4 in width by 2-1/8" in height.
