ARTIFACT:

This is a sterling silver United States Army Expert Infantryman badge from World War II. Along with the Combat Infantryman 3rd Award badge, the Expert Infantryman badge was born from the recognition that infantryman were sure to die or suffer injury in disproportionate numbers compared to other enlisted men. The badge shows a rifle on a blue enameled background.

VINTAGE:

Circa World War II.

SIZE:

Approximately 7/16" in height and 3" in width.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Sterling silver with enamel, brass catches.

ATTACHMENT:

Two posts with clutch-back catches.

MARKINGS:

STERLING.
