Description
This is an Italian-made Polish 2nd Artillery Group badge, from the era of the Battle of Monte Cassino. The mermaid with sword and shield on the front is the symbol of the 2nd Polish Corps, the army in the west, and she is accompanied by an artillery shell. The crest at the bottom of the badge is the symbol for the 8th British Army in Italy in 1944.
VINTAGE:Circa WWII.
SIZE:Approximately 1-3/4" in height and 1-3/4" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Nickel-plated brass.
ATTACHMENT:Screw back post with disc.
MARKINGS:F. M. LORIOLI MILANO ROMA on screwback disc.
