ARTIFACT:
This is a World War II OSS Office of Strategic Services Machete with original sheath in Excellent Condition. The Machete was unmarked with the intention of not divulge the country of origin if captured by enemy forces. The machete is believed to have been made for the OSS, with the intention of them to be used in the Philippines in the hands of irregular Philippine forces who were being trained in the United States for later insertion into the Philippines by parachute or submarine.

Approximately: Blade Length: 15-3/4" x 1-5/8" in widest part. Grip Length: 6" Total Length: 21-7/8" Scabbard Length: 17" with 6" belt loop. Total length: 23-1/4"

Steel, black Bakelite grip and Leather Scabbard.

CONDITION:
8+ (Excellent): The blade has only been lightly sharpened, and retains at least 90% of its Parkerized finish (the bulk of the wear is at the tip). in good condition and grip has light wear but no cracks or chips. Overall, it is in excellent condition.
