ARTIFACT:

This is a World War II British War Relief Association of Southern California celluloid pin. In 1941, the umbrella organization British War Relief Society (BWRS) was created to coordinate the efforts of the many grassroots groups in the United States already in existence, such as this one, providing aid for the British people. The pin reads ALONE AND UNAFRAID! and shows a bulldog walking stoically across the Union Jack.

VINTAGE:

Circa early World War II.

SIZE:

Approximately 1" in diameter.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Celluloid-wrapped tin, brass pin, paper backing.

ATTACHMENT:

Straight pin.
