SUBJECT: This is a World War II “Defense Bond Club” celluloid pin for the Bell Aircraft P-39 Division. A prolific aircraft manufacturer, Bell became most known for producing the first supersonic aircraft, the Bell X-1. The pin shows a P-39 aircraft with three red stars above.

VINTAGE: Circa World War II.

SIZE: Approximately 13/16” in diameter.

CONSTRUCTION/MATERIALS: Celluloid-wrapped tin with paper backing.

ATTACHMENT: Horizontal straight pin with catch.

MARKINGS: THE WHITEHEAD & HOAG CO. BUTTONS, BADGES NOVELTIES AND SIGNS NEWARK, N.J.
