Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a beautiful World War II enameled lapel wing for the American Theatre Wing Stage Door Canteen of San Francisco. The creator of the Tony Award, the group was a part of the World War II Allied Relief Fund that encouraged theatrical education but also supported servicemen and families of veterans. The wing is beautifully enameled in red, white and blue with a winged actor's mask at its center.

VINTAGE:

Circa World War II.

SIZE:

Approximately 1/2" in height and 1-1/2" in width.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Gilt sterling silver, enamel.

ATTACHMENT:

Horizontal pin with drop-in locking swivel catch.

MARKINGS:

SS (sterling silver).

8+ (Excellent): The wing has almost no wear and tarnish to the reverse only.
