ARTIFACT: This is a Japanese Type 32 Otsu transport soldier's sword. The Otsu was an abbreviated version of the Type 32 "Ko" cavalry sword, made beginning in 1899, through the World War I era, and up until 1936. The Otsu was used by Japanese enlistees in the Military Police and Transportation Corps, as well as other divisions, through the end of World War II. This is a World War II American veteran's bring-back. The sword has a checkered wood grip in black and brown and its blade is fullered on both sides. There is a serial number on both the sword and scabbard and some maker or inspection marks.

VINTAGE: Circa World War I.

SIZE: Overall: approximately 35-1/2" in length and 4-1/4" in width; blade only: 30-3/8" by 1"; scabbard: 31-1/2" by 1-1/2".

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Steel, painted steel, wood.

ATTACHMENT: Ring, push-button on scabbard.

MARKINGS: 111371 and maker or inspection marks on sword; 25 on scabbard.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a Japanese militaria collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. KEZAR VBJJX12 LCIEX4/12 SBEJ3/14

CONDITION: 7+ (Very Fine+): The blade shows very light wear only; there is tarnish on the guard. The scabbard has scattered abrasions.

GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
