ARTIFACT: This is a World War I era worker badge from Ball-Band of Mishawaka, Indiana. Ball-Band was a brand of rubber shoe first produced in 1898 by the Mishawaka Rubber and Woolen Manufacturing Company, and became an umbrella name for many of their future rubber products as well. At one time the badge had an identification number, but it has since been worn away.

VINTAGE: Circa World War I.

SIZE: Approximately 1-1/2" in diameter.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Plated brass with painted lettering, paper, clear celluloid, tin backing.

ATTACHMENT: Vertical pin with drop-in locking swivel catch.

MARKINGS: WHITEHEAD HOAG NEWARK, N.J. PAT. APPL'D FOR.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a war worker collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VAX95 VDEX12/10 SAJX8/18

CONDITION: 4+ (Very Good): The badge has seen heavy wear: the celluloid has peeled away and the paper underneath is damaged and mostly illegible. The rest of the badge has moderate wear and tarnish.

GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
