Description
This is a circa World War I British Distinguished Conduct Medal issued to Sjt. J. (James William) Shortman, Som. L.I. (Somerset Light Infantry). The prestigious military award, which is bestowed for bravery, bears the bust of George V on its front. It is accompanied by four photographs, including one of Shortman's wedding day and one taken during his service in China. Also included is a booklet containing Shortman's biography and the circumstances of his accidental firefighting-related death in 1941, and a photocopied page of the November 14, 1916 London Gazette write-up on Shortman's award.

CONDITION:8- (Very Fine-Excellent): The items are in various conditions but overall are in wonderful shape. Photographs show some aging and medal is in terrific shape.
