ARTIFACT: WWI 13th Battalion Black Watch Scottish Horse British Territorial Yeomanry cap badge. The center shows "X" and surrounding reads: "SCOTTISH HORSE 1900" in embossed lettering. The outer edge features a wreath one side of oak leaves and the other laurel leaves and topped with a royal crown. Two banners at the base of the cap badge read: "SOUTH AFRICA 1900 1901 1902". Initially formed for service in the Second Boer War, the regiment saw heavy combat in WWI. After the outbreak of war, the 13th became an infantry battalion in 1916 and was stationed on the Salonica (or Macedonian Front) for a large part of WWI.

SIZE: Approximately 1-13/16" x 1-1/4".

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Stamped bronze

ATTACHMENT: Two loops/lugs and cotter pin

CONDITION: 8- (Very Fine - Excellent): The cap badge shows minor to moderate wear and verdigris, handsome patina, overall very fine condition.
