Description
This is a wonderful World War II Lockheed Aircraft worker's set of overalls by Cowden. The overalls are in white cotton and have a huge chain-stitch "Lockheed Service" logo and winged star in red and blue on the back. Lockheed started up in 1912 in San Francisco. The company was the sole contributor of American-made fighter planes during America's participation in World War II, supplying the USAAF with P-38 Lightnings. Lockheed eventually became Lockheed Martin in 199The overalls have two breast pockets, two front pockets and two rear pockets.
VINTAGE:Circa World War II.
SIZE:36 Short (on tag). Approximately 20" armpit to armpit, 22-1/2" from shoulder seam to end of cuff, 17" across back shoulder to shoulder and about 56" from base of collar to hem, 15" across waist (" total), 28" inseam.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Sanforized cotton, cotton chains-stitch embroidered logo.
ATTACHMENT:Buttons up front, buttons on cuffs, belt.
MARKINGS:H-GL stamp, LOT 8 SIZE 36 SHORT COWDEN UNION MADE SANFORIZED SHRUNK; COWDEN on button.

CONDITION:7+ (Very Fine+): The overalls show only light wear and have some areas of discoloration/staining (mostly on left shoulder and on top reverse), and have a spot of fraying on right pant cuff.
