Description

ARTIFACT:

Wonderful vintage 1920's – 1930's McNess Humpty Dumpty Baby Powder Tin. The tin displays vibrant colors and tells the nursery rhyme of Humpty Dumpty. The front of the tin displays Humpty sitting atop a brick wall, beneath him reads: "McNESS HUMPTY DUMPTY BORATED TALC AND BABY POWDER "SOFT AS DOWN". The front begins the nursery rhyme with: "HUMPTY-DUMPTY SAT ON A WALL", one side shows Humpty falling down and beneath him reads: "HUMPTY-DUMPTY HAD", the reverse shows Humpty falling to the ground just about to land on his back, below him reads: "A GREAT FALL –". Above him reads the same as the front. The other side reads: "ALL THE KINGS HORSES AND ALL THE KINGS MEN COULDN'T PUT HUMPTY-DUMPTY BACK TOGETHER AGAIN" and beneath shows Humpty cracked and broken on the ground. The base of the can displays: "MANUFACTURED BY NcNESS CO. CHEMISTS AND MANUFACTURING PHARMACISTS FREEPORT, ILLINOIS, U. S. A. ESTABLISHED 1908 12 OUNCES NET WEIGHT".

Circa 1920's - 1930's.

Approximately 8" x 3" x 2".

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Painted tin.

ATTACHMENT:

Screw top lid, with holes for sprinkling powder.

"MANUFACTURED BY NcNESS CO. CHEMISTS AND MANUFACTURING PHARMACISTS FREEPORT, ILLINOIS, U. S. A. ESTABLISHED 1908 12 OUNCES NET WEIGHT".
