Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a Wonderful circa 1905 Itasca Texas City Marshal Badge of John A. Martin. Martin was a noted politician in the Dallas - Fort Worth area, and was mentioned as being the Itasca City Marshal at a meeting of Police Chiefs in Texas in 1905, so we know the badge to date at least from that year, possibly earlier.

Itasca Texas was founded as a Railroad stop for the Missouri, Kansas and Texas Railroad, the KATY Line, around 1881 and incorporated in 188Located halfway between Waco and Dallas Fort Worth, the town was a bustling community of industry, but still had its fair share of old west flavor and events around the time John Martin was City Marshal, and the city streets were not paved for another 15 years.
