ARTIFACT: This is a Wonderful circa 1905 Itasca Texas City Marshal Badge of John A. Martin. Martin was a noted politician in the Dallas - Fort Worth area, and was mentioned as being the Itasca City Marshal at a meeting of Police Chiefs in Texas in 1905, so we know the badge to date at least from that year, possibly earlier.

Itasca Texas was founded as a Railroad stop for the Missouri, Kansas and Texas Railroad, the KATY Line, around 1881 and incorporated in 1885. Located halfway between Waco and Dallas Fort Worth, the town was a bustling community of industry, but still had its fair share of old west flavor and events around the time John Martin was City Marshal, and the city streets were not paved for another 15 years.

VINTAGE: Circa 1905.

SIZE: Approximately 2-5/8" in height x 2" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Heavy Gold Fill two tones rose and yellow, with hard-fired white enamel. Central bronze Star appears to have been gold fill or gold, but caught the most of the polish and the gold is gone from some of the other points on the outer edge of the badge.

ATTACHMENT: Vertical pin with C catch.

MARKINGS:

CHARLES.A. BROPHY
AURORA, ILL.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a police and law enforcement collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. KAJJJV23 LCHGEX07/03/23 SLEEGEX11/15/23 SCEJJX01/25

CONDITION: 8+ (Excellent): The badge shows minor wear, and beautiful patina.

GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
