This is a wonderful Fijian Vunikau (Root Stock) Club from either the late 18th century or the early 19th century. The club was made from the root stock of a tree. The roots were ground down and polished to create the prominent knots of the bludgeoning weapon. There are carvings at the base of the club, providing a grip for the weapon.
VINTAGE:Late 18th century or Early 19th century.
SIZE:About 42" length and 5" diameter at head.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Wood.
