ARTIFACT:
This is a large, wonderful sign made from applying an actual Flying Tigers Aircraft Decal to a piece of Masonite painted battleship gray. It is believed that this once adorned the bar back of the officers' Club Bar in Kunming, as there is another of this "sign" in existence, made with the decal type used the opposite side of the aircraft. This other sign still has the original small "frame" around it, whereas the collector who owned this sign opted to have a thicker, sturdier frame put on this sign. The decal shows the crazing of the decades that have passed since it was applied to the Masonite, but this does not detract: it actually adds to the "been there" look of the piece. This is a BIG piece at 40" x 45". An excellent, dramatic backdrop for your AVG or WWII Aviation Collection. Images do not do this piece the justice standing in the same room with it does! Artifacts that belonged to members of the original Flying Tigers are extremely hard to acquire and rarely come up for sale. Often collectors lucky enough to acquire anything from the AVG will hold onto the pieces for their entire lifetime and families rarely let these artifacts go if they are lucky enough to still possess them. Don't miss this chance to own a true piece of WWII Aviation History.
