ARTIFACT: Wonderful, circa 1900 beer mug from Max & Jacques Boston Restaurant Café de la Bourse.. The mug reads: “AIN’T IT HELL TO BE POOR” along the top and beneath it reads: “CAFÉ DE LA BOURSE MAX & JACQUES BOSTON”, the bottom shows the number “10”. The café was located at 5 Broad St. in Boston, now the home of The Bar Room.

VINTAGE: Circa 1900

SIZE: Approximately 4 3/8” x 2 7/8” top diameter and 3 ½” bottom diameter.

CONSTRUCTION/MATERIALS: Ceramic mug and paint
