ARTIFACT: This is a unique piece: a wonderful walking stick from the 2nd half of the 19th century. The stick is very delicate looking, but is cleverly made of a heavy spring with an intricately woven covering concealing the steel spring body and lead-loaded "sap" type handle (a sap is used as a self-defense weapon,). The tip of the stick has a bronze outer covering. This would be a very lethal self-defense weapon.

VINTAGE: Circa last half 19th century.

SIZE: Approximately 34-1/2" in length and in diameter (at sap end).

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Linen, steel, bronze.

ATTACHMENT: None.

MARKINGS: None.

ITEM NOTES: This is from an old walking stick collection that we will be listing more of over the next few months. MDJX14 LBGEX8/14 psVCJJX03/19

CONDITION: 7- (Very Fine-): The sap has some moderate to heavy wear; covering at handle has some cosmetic damage.

GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
