Description
This is a wonderful bronze table medal given to passengers aboard the 1928 inaugural passenger flight undertaken by Colonial Western Airways. Colonial Western, owned by Colonial Air Lines, successfully flew out of Albany, New York with a destination of Cleveland, Ohio on June 1, 192Just over one year later, Colonial Western completed its first international passenger flight, from Buffalo to Toronto, Ontario (Canada). The table medal depicts the route taken by the pioneering plane, and reads "Costly Bales thru Purple Skies" (a paraphrase of a sentiment expressed in Tennyson's "Locksley Hall"). It was made by Robbins Company of Attleboro, Massachusetts.
