ARTIFACT: This is a wonderful 1916 Iron Cross paperweight in commemoration of the U-Boat landing in Baltimore prior to the US participation in World War I. It is a hefty paperweight, with a picture of Paul Konig, Captain of the U-Deutschland of the German Merchant Navy. On the reverse of the paperweight is a faded picture of the U-Deutschland in the water. The piece is dated 9 July, 1916

VINTAGE: Circa 1916

SIZE: Approximately 2-7/8" x 32-7/8" x 1/2"

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Cast Iron and Copper

CONDITION: 7 (Very Fine): The cast iron is in good shape, but the copper has been worn down due to use, rendering some of the words as well as the picture on the reverse very hard to make out
