Description
Wonderful 1890's Col. Sise, Steam Fire Engine No. 2 Portsmouth Fire Department Memorial parade ribbon. The pinback features an ornate tin edged, copper frame that reads: "IN MEMORIAM.", "PAT. W&H CO. NEWARK, N. J." from which a black silk ribbon is suspended that reads: "COL. SISE S. F. E. CO. NO. 2, PORTSMOUTH FIRE DEP'T. WE'LL TRY" and shows a firefighter in action, holding a hose with billows of smoke at his feet and the base of the ribbon features bullion tassel embellishments. The reverse of the ribbon reads: "THE WHITEHEAD & HOAG CO. NEWARK, NJ" along the top near the pinback and the original cardstock label reads: "THE WHITEHEAD & HOAG CO. RIBBON METAL AND CELLULOID BADGES, FLAGS & BANNERS. NEWARK, N. J."

CONDITION:7 (Very Fine): The parade ribbon shows moderate wear and some slight discoloration to pinback, original paper label intact, bullion shows handsome patina.
